A Child Is Given
Today’s Scripture:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…”
— Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Jesus was not merely born into the world, He was given. This verse reminds us that Christ is a gift from God, offered freely out of love. The Savior came not through force or power, but as a child, approachable and full of grace.
At Christmas, it’s easy to focus on gifts we exchange, but the heart of the season is found in receiving the gift God has already given us. Jesus came to bring peace, hope, and salvation to all who believe.
Application:
Take time today to thank God specifically for the gift of Jesus, not just what He gives, but who He is. With all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, take some time to think about how the gift of Jesus, being sent down from the Father to this broken world has made an impact on your life. Take the time to give thanks for the greatest gift ever given.
Challenge for Today:
Pause before any Christmas stress today and remind yourself: Jesus is the greatest gift I will ever receive. Take the time to pray the prayer below.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son. Help me live with gratitude and joy, remembering what Christmas is truly about. I thank you for the gift of salvation, thank you for sending Jesus down to this earth and for his teachings. We thank you in Jesus name, Amen.
