Today’s Grace Daily Devotional is here to help you start your day anchored in God’s Word. If it encourages you, share it with a friend or family member.
Today’s Scripture:
“He blessed them that day and said, ‘In your name will Israel pronounce this blessing: “May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.”’ So he put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.”
—Genesis 48:20 (NIV)
Reflection:
This verse captures the moment Jacob blesses Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. In doing so, he not only speaks blessings over their lives but also establishes a legacy of blessing for future generations. Jacob’s words became a pattern of prayer and hope for the nation of Israel, as parents would bless their children in the names of Ephraim and Manasseh. Today, we bless in the name of Jesus Christ the Messiah.
Jacob’s act reminds us of the power of spoken blessings. Our words carry the potential to shape destinies, inspire faith, and leave a spiritual inheritance. By choosing to bless Ephraim and Manasseh intentionally, Jacob demonstrates how we, too, can be instruments of God’s love and favor for others.
This moment also reminds us of God’s sovereignty. Though Manasseh was the firstborn, Jacob placed Ephraim ahead of him, showing that God’s plans often defy human expectations. God’s blessings are not bound by our traditions or logic—they flow according to His purpose.
Application:
Take time to consider how your words impact those around you. Are you speaking blessings and encouragement into the lives of others, especially your family and loved ones? Ask God to guide your words so they align with His will and bring hope and life to those who hear them. Study God's Word, expanding your ability to know how to use the spoken Word to bless others.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the power of blessings and the opportunity to speak Your love and favor into the lives of others. Teach me to use my words to encourage, uplift, and point others to You. Help me to trust Your plans, even when they don’t align with my expectations, knowing that Your ways are perfect. Amen.
Challenge for Today:
Speak a blessing over someone today—whether it’s a family member, a friend, or a colleague. Pray for them, encourage them, and remind them of God’s love and purpose for their life. Your words can make a lasting impact.
