Our culture often tells us that wisdom comes from experience, education, or self-confidence. While those things have value, God’s Word points us to a much deeper source. True wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord.

To fear the Lord doesn’t mean living in terror of Him. It means honoring Him, trusting His authority, and recognizing that His ways are always higher than ours. When we place God first, we begin to see life through His perspective rather than our own limited understanding.

One of the greatest marks of wisdom is having a teachable heart. Pride says, “I already know.” Wisdom says, “Lord, teach me.” God delights in guiding those who humbly seek Him. He uses His Word, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and wise believers to shape our decisions and transform our hearts.

Every day presents countless choices—how we respond to people, how we spend our time, what priorities we pursue, and which voices we listen to. The more we seek God’s instruction before making those decisions, the more our lives reflect His character.

Today, instead of relying solely on your own understanding, invite God into every decision. His wisdom never leads us astray.

Before making an important decision today, pause and pray.

Open God’s Word before you open your own opinions. Ask yourself:

When seeking God’s direction becomes your first response instead of your last resort, you’ll discover a peace and confidence that only He can provide.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding me that true wisdom begins with honoring You. Help me to approach each day with humility, recognizing that Your ways are higher than my own. Give me a teachable heart that welcomes correction and eagerly seeks Your instruction. Guard me from pride and self-reliance, and lead me to make choices that reflect Your truth. May every decision I make bring glory to Your name and draw me closer to You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Before making your next significant decision today, stop for one minute and pray.

Ask God for wisdom before you respond, act, or choose. Then spend at least five minutes reading His Word and listening quietly for His guidance. Notice how inviting God into your decisions changes your perspective throughout the day.
