“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river.”
— Isaiah 48:17–18

There are moments in life when we simply don’t know which way to go.

We may have decisions to make, opportunities to consider, or circumstances that leave us uncertain about what comes next. Our natural response can be to rush, worry, or rely entirely on our own understanding.

But God reminds us that He knows the way.

Isaiah tells us that God teaches us and leads us. His guidance isn’t meant to restrict us—it is meant to lead us toward what is good.

Notice the promise at the end of the passage: “Then your peace would have been like a river.”

God’s peace doesn’t depend on having every answer. It comes from knowing that the One who sees the entire path is walking with us.

When we surrender our plans, listen for His direction, and trust His wisdom, we can experience peace even when the road ahead is uncertain.

You may not know what tomorrow holds.

But you can trust the One who does.

Before making an important decision today, pause and invite God into it.

Instead of immediately asking, “What do I want to do?” ask:

“God, where are You leading me?”

Spend a few quiet moments in prayer. Open God’s Word. Pay attention to the wisdom He provides. And resist the temptation to make decisions purely from fear, impatience, or emotion.

You don’t have to see the entire path to take the next faithful step.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being a God who guides me. There are times when I don’t know which direction to take, but You see the path ahead clearly.

Give me wisdom to listen to Your instruction and humility to follow where You lead. Keep me from making decisions based solely on fear, impatience, or emotion.

Let Your peace flow through my heart as I surrender my plans to You. Help me trust that Your direction is leading me toward what is good.

When I feel uncertain, remind me that I don’t have to have all the answers because I can trust You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
