“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

— Joshua 1:9

Fear has a way of making even the smallest obstacles seem impossible. It whispers that we’re not capable, that we’re alone, or that the future is too uncertain to move forward. But God’s words to Joshua remind us of a powerful truth that still applies today: our courage doesn’t come from our circumstances—it comes from His presence.

When God called Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, He wasn’t promising an easy journey. There would be battles to fight, obstacles to overcome, and moments of uncertainty. Yet before Joshua took a single step, God gave him this promise: “I will be with you wherever you go.”

The same promise is true for us.

Whether you’re facing a difficult decision, walking through a season of loss, starting something new, or simply trying to remain faithful in everyday life, you never face it alone. God’s presence goes before you, walks beside you, and strengthens you from within.

Being courageous doesn’t mean you never feel afraid. It means choosing to trust God even when fear is present. Faith moves forward because it knows the One who holds the future.

Today, let God’s presence replace your fear. Instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong, remember the One who promises to never leave your side.

Think about one area of your life where fear has been holding you back.

It may be a conversation you’ve been avoiding, a decision you’ve been hesitant to make, or a step of faith God has been calling you to take.

Today, surrender that fear to God. Pray over it, trust His presence, and take one small step forward in faith. Courage often grows one obedient step at a time.

Lord,

Thank You for the assurance that You are always with me. When fear tries to take hold or uncertainty clouds my path, help me stand firm in faith. Fill me with courage to face challenges and confidence to walk forward in obedience.

Remind me that I never face life’s battles alone because Your presence goes before me and walks beside me. Let Your strength replace my fear and Your peace calm my heart.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“The Lord my God is with me wherever I go.”
