Strength in God’s Refuge | Psalm 46:1

Have you ever had one of those days where everything just feels like too much?

Maybe you’re dealing with stress at work, uncertainty about the future, problems in your family, or simply feeling exhausted from carrying so much.

If that’s where you are today, I want to remind you of something incredibly important.

You don’t have to face it alone.

Today’s Scripture

Psalm 46:1 says:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

I love that this verse doesn’t say if trouble comes.

It says when trouble comes, God is there.

He is our refuge.

A refuge is a place we can run to when the storm gets overwhelming. And God invites us to run toward Him—not away from Him.

Reflection

So often, our first instinct is to try to fix everything ourselves.

We tell ourselves, I just need to be stronger. I need to figure this out. I need to handle this.

But God doesn’t ask us to carry everything in our own strength.

He says, “Come to Me.”

When you’re afraid, He can give you courage.

When you’re exhausted, He can give you strength.

When you don’t know what to do next, He can give you peace.

And perhaps most importantly, He reminds you that you are not alone.

Application

So here’s something I want you to try today.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, stop for a moment.

Take a breath.

And instead of immediately trying to solve everything, simply pray:

“Lord, You are my refuge and my strength. I trust You with this.”

Give that situation to God.

Then take the next step—not because you have everything figured out, but because you know God is with you.

Closing

Whatever you’re facing today, remember Psalm 46:1.

God is your refuge.
God is your strength.
And God is present with you.

You don’t have to face life’s battles alone.
