As the new year approaches, many of us are still holding onto burdens from the past, things God never intended for us to carry forward.

Today’s devotional is an invitation to pause, breathe, and place those weights into God’s hands.

Scripture:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

— Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

Reflection:

As one year ends, many of us carry burdens we were never meant to hold, regret, guilt, disappointment, fear. God invites us to lay these things down. The new year is not meant to be entered weighed down by yesterday’s struggles.

Letting go is an act of trust. When we release what we cannot change, we make room for what God wants to renew. God foregives us for all of our past sins, repent and turn to God and he will release you from your past.

Application:

Ask God to reveal anything you’re still carrying that needs to be surrendered to Him. Pray to him for foregiveness and turn your focus to him completely. Fully surrender to God, for he will always take care of you.

Challenge for Today:

In prayer, name one burden you are releasing to God today, and intentionally let it go.

Prayer:

Jesus, I bring You my burdens and lay them at Your feet. Help me release what I was never meant to carry. Release me from the past so I can focus on what you have for me in the future. Jesus, I trust You with all of my heart. In Jesus Name, Amen.
