As we approach Christmas, we want to intentionally slow down and reflect on the greatest gift ever given, the birth of Jesus Christ. Over the next several days, these devotionals will focus on the promises, people, and purpose surrounding His arrival. May this season draw your heart closer to Jesus and remind you of the hope, peace, and joy found in Him.
The Promise Foretold
Today’s Scripture:
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
— Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Long before the manger, before Bethlehem, and before the angels sang, God made a promise. In a time of fear and uncertainty, the Lord declared that He would send a Savior, Immanuel, meaning God with us. This was not just a prophecy about a birth, but a promise of God’s nearness.
Christmas reminds us that God does not remain distant from our struggles. He steps into them. When life feels uncertain, this promise still stands: God is with us. The birth of Jesus proves that God keeps His word and fulfills His promises at the perfect time.
Application:
Reflect on areas of your life where you may be waiting on God. Let this verse remind you that His promises are trustworthy, even when the fulfillment takes time.
Challenge for Today:
Write down one promise from God’s Word that you’re holding onto. Spend time thanking Him in advance for His faithfulness.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being a promise-keeping God. Help me trust You fully, especially when I cannot see what You are doing. Thank You for sending Jesus to be God with us. In Jesus Name, Amen.
