Before the cross… there was a moment of surrender.

In the quiet of the garden, Jesus faced the weight of what was to come, and chose trust over escape. Today, we begin our journey to Easter by stepping into that same invitation: to release control, to trust deeply, and to say, “God, Your will be done

Scripture to focus on: Luke 22:42

“saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

Today’s Devotional:

Before the cross, there was a garden.

Jesus knew what was coming, the pain, the betrayal, the weight of sin. And yet, in His humanity, He prayed honestly: “Take this cup from me.” But He didn’t stop there. He surrendered: “Not my will, but yours.”

Surrender is not weakness, it’s trust. It’s choosing God’s plan even when it doesn’t make sense, even when it’s painful.

We all face moments where we want a different outcome. A different path. An easier way. But like Jesus, we’re invited into a deeper trust, believing that God’s will is ultimately good, even when it’s difficult.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where in your life are you resisting God’s will?

  • What would it look like to fully surrender that area to Him today?

Prayer for today:

Lord, I don’t always understand Your plan. But I trust You. Help me to surrender my will, my fears, and my desires into Your hands. Teach me to say, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” In Jesus Name, Amen.
