Wisdom That Brings Peace
Today’s Grace Daily Devotional is here to help you start your day anchored in God’s Word.
If it encourages you, share it with a friend or family member.
Today’s Scripture
“The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression.”
Proverbs 19:11
Reflection
Wisdom is not only knowing what to say—it is knowing when to speak, when to remain silent, and when to let something go.
There will be moments when people disappoint us, misunderstand us, or hurt us. Our natural reaction may be to defend ourselves, respond quickly, or hold onto the offense.
But Proverbs 19:11 reminds us that wisdom changes the way we respond.
Being slow to anger doesn’t mean ignoring injustice or pretending that hurt doesn’t exist. It means giving God room to guide our response instead of allowing our emotions to take control.
Sometimes strength looks like speaking up. Other times, strength looks like extending grace and choosing not to carry an offense with us.
When we ask God for wisdom, He helps us see beyond the moment. He teaches us to choose peace over resentment, patience over anger, and forgiveness over bitterness.
Application
Today, before reacting to something that frustrates or hurts you, pause and pray:
“Lord, give me wisdom in how I respond.”
Ask yourself:
Do I really need to respond?
Am I reacting out of anger or responding with wisdom?
Is this something I need to address—or something I need to release?
How can I respond in a way that honors God?
You don’t have to win every argument. You don’t have to answer every offense. Sometimes the most powerful response is grace.
Prayer
Gracious God,
Give me the wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent, when to confront and when to extend grace. Help me become slower to anger and quicker to forgive.
When someone disappoints or hurts me, keep resentment from taking root in my heart. Give me the maturity to see beyond the moment and respond in a way that honors You.
May Your wisdom help me choose peace, patience, and forgiveness today. Guard my heart from bitterness and help me reflect Your grace in every situation.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Challenge for Today
Pause before you react.
The next time someone frustrates, disappoints, or hurts you, take a moment to pray before responding.
Ask God for wisdom, and choose the response that brings peace, grace, and forgiveness rather than anger.
