Wisdom is more than knowing what is right—it is having the discernment to recognize where a decision may lead before we make it.

Every day, we encounter choices, influences, opportunities, and temptations that can shape our lives. Some may appear harmless in the moment but lead us somewhere we never intended to go.

Proverbs 22:3 reminds us that a prudent person looks ahead. They recognize danger and take action before it becomes a problem.

God wants to give us that kind of wisdom.

We don’t have to make every decision based on what feels good or convenient right now. We can pause, pray, seek God’s direction, and consider the consequences of our choices.

Sometimes wisdom means moving forward. Other times, wisdom means walking away.

When we invite God into our decisions, He helps us see beyond the immediate moment and choose a path that honors Him.

Before making an important decision today, take a moment to pause and ask:

“Where could this choice lead me?”

Consider the people influencing you, the habits you’re developing, and the decisions you’re making. Ask God to reveal anything that could pull you away from His will.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. Seek His wisdom, listen for His guidance, and trust Him to direct your steps.

Heavenly Father,

Give me the wisdom to recognize danger before I walk into it. Help me see beyond the immediate moment and understand where my choices may lead.

Give me discernment to recognize unhealthy influences, tempting shortcuts, and decisions that could pull me away from Your will.

Help me think carefully, seek Your guidance, and choose the path that brings honor to You.

May Your wisdom protect me and guide me toward choices that lead to life, peace, and purpose.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pause before you choose.

When you face a decision today, don’t immediately react. Take a moment to pray and ask God for wisdom.

“Lord, show me where this path leads, and give me the wisdom to choose what honors You.”

Then trust Him to guide your next step. 🙏
